Joost Luiten to beat Bernd Wiesberger - 8 points @ 4-5 (General)
Whilst a great watch and an incredible effort under the circumstances, a shame that Rory beat Rosey at the BMW, or we would have been well on the way to making it ten from ten in matchups. Nevertheless, at Austria the oddsmakers have put the two jollies together and whilst I couldn't back either at their price in the outright market, the Dutchman looks sure to take the beating above anyone else. It would have been tough to seperate him from third in ,Jimenez, but here he is a bet.
Despite the home favourite's record here, Wiesberger has often looked at odds with his short game. It wasn't good to watch here last year, or when challenging at various points throughout the year and he is yet another player that seems to find it tough to hit half-shots or be 'clever' with his game. Excellent with a full iron shot in his hands he is bound to keep learning his craft but I just wonder if the pressure of trying too hard on his home track, allied with a recent loss of form will mean the Austrians may well have to cheer on adopted Miguel Angel Jimenez instead. Wiesberger often appears on the leaderboard from nowhere and seemingly doing nothing, but he doesn't arrive in top form, breaking 70 only twice in his last thre events, the last two calling for accuracy and he looks the weakest of the leading few.
Opposing him with the world number 44 (and rising) isn't hard and whoever finishes in front of Luiten will surely be in the top-5 at worst. Two outings here, a debut 3rd and then the win last year, are pointers enough but recent form is on another level with only the Legend close to matching him. 13th at Doral, 26th at the Masters with a closing 67, 4th in Spain and 12th at Wentworth show his game is in rude health. Winning at the KLM demonstrated his ability to win under huge home pressure and as such, defending a title may not be as hard. The entire Willibrordus Adrianus Maria Luiten game is simply far too much for his oppo this week and he expected to comfortable land the odds |
