Lay Alejandro Canizares - to win 5 points @ 2.8 or less (biggest liabilty 9 points)

(Currently 2.68 and proofed at that price)

Sorely tempted to get with a whole host of these with course form and proven weekend ability, but having missed the end-of-round prices last night, there is not much up there and won't be until tonight. A further look will be required then, but opting between course winners Marcel Siem, Michael Hoey and David Horsey was tough. They all have their foibles - a possible cricked neck, over-aggression, and reluctance to hit the front too soon (in that order) but they, along with Bourdy (winner of a tough French Open and enjoying this course for a change) form a formidable team even if they are upwards of 7 shots behind the current leader.

However, with the Palais Royal tracj demanding very thoughtful play and an ability to be accurate and a good scrambler under pressure, the leader must be taken on at the current 2.6-2.7. Canizares was superb in his first round 62, and achieved plenty with a second round 4-under 68 to allow both he and maiden Seve Banson to open up at least 4 shots on the field. However, 7-4 and thereabouts is tremendously short about a player who struggles to get over the line and hasn't won for near-on 8 years. The Spaniard has been in the front two at halfway on seven occassions and struggled to get home on each one. It's a fair lead but currently surpassing any of this seasons GIR, his best final round efforts have come from off the pace as in the 65 on Sunday in Qatar - notice the 3rd round 73 though. At the price he is well worth getting in the book and with the tough final hole finish to each half, perhaps any other player that dips below 3.
