Julien Quesne to beat George Coetzee - 7 points @ 10-11 (SportingBet)

Perennial bridesmaid Coetzee eventually won his maiden in Joburg but has since failed to cut mustard over the weekend of any of his last five events. To be fair, the South African was chasing qualification for The Masters but he had chances at Morocco, Investec and at the Telkom, failing to take opportunities and was probably mentally exhausted by the end of March. It remains to be seen whether he has actually turned the corner in terms of winning or whether that lack of 'bite' on payday is still a major issue but he hasn't played competition golf for over a month, has a terrible record in Spain and this doesn't look the type of course that a big hitter will prosper on. Certainly, he will have no advantage of length over the par-5s and if continuing his poor driving accuracy will surely suffer with his score. This looks like a perfect week to hone the game rather than be competitive and he seems to have no advantage over this weeks oppo.

Julien Quesne has the responsibility of continuing a winning streak for the 72-hole matchbets and he carries huge confidence this week. Improving every year since winning the Alps Tour in 2007 the Frenchman has won every year bar 2010, coming through the Challenge Tour and on to victories at Andelucia and the Italian Open. On each occassion, he has finished the weekend strongly with 68 being his worst Sunday score and he is a player that I always watch for betting from halfway as he always seems to find more as the line approaches. Results this year are decent if unspectacular and he will certainly be expecting to be right in the mix for the Race To Dubai. Currently ranked 49, recent form includes 5th at Malaysia and 19th in China with no missed-cuts in six starts but it's his putting that stands out, ranking top-6 in four of the six events in 2014. Apart from the flat stick, Quesne ranks mid-30s for accuracy and GIR, assets that should be too good for Coetzee, especially given his record in Spain, the win in Andelucia looking good alongside solid top-30s. The premium on care and placing will be right up his street and being a good friend of Thomas Levet, winner of this event in 2009 when last held here, will not be any disadvantage. On all aspects he looks to be overall favourite for this match, yet can be backed at 'your pick'.
