10 pts Ernie Els v Phil Mickelson 1.9 centrebet (tie no bet) A staggering statistic - this bet would have won in all 13 of the Open Championships in which the two have been in the same field. LOSS 10 PTS - a very disappointing R2 from Els who was out in the much tougher afternoon conditions Additional recommendations: 4pts Chris Wood (evs) v Darren Clarke (Stan James) Darren Clarke could be forgiven for being mentally exhausted this week. After winning the JP Mcmanus Pro-Am in Ireland early last week he carried that momentum through to the rain-soaked Scottish Open building up a healthy lead only to be pipped at the finishing post by Eduardo Molinari. His runners-up finish earned him a last minute spot in the field but it is likely to have taken a lot out of him. Wood's Open record is impressive and he must have every chance of winning this particular match-up. LOSS 4PTS 4pts Rory Mcilroy (87/100) v Lee Westwood centrebet (tie no bet) Notwithstanding Westwood's leg injury Mcilroy's credentials this week are clear for all to see - current form, course form, a love of links golf and not least added inspiration from close friend Mcdowell's recent US Open victory. 5.5 pts Sandy Lyle (10/11) v Nick Faldo BetFred Very surprised to see BetFred pair these two veterans together. Faldo is no more than an occasional golfer these days and with his appearances on tour increasingly rare is likely to be very rusty. Lyle is at least playing regularly on the Senior circuit on both sides of the Atlantic and is in fairly decent nick posting a 9th and 12th place finish in his last two European Senior Tour outings. PROFIT 5 POINTS 5 pts Ian Poulter (evs) v Martin Kaymer (sportingbet) I can't understand why Poulter is being made the outsider in this match-up. Poulter has much more experience of links golf particularly in Open Championship conditions and was an eye catching 11th at the St Andrews Open in 2005 since when he has improved significantly. Kaymer on the other hand looked shattered last week at the Scottish Open and whilst having performed well at the Dunhill Links tournament will do well to match Poulter this week.
