Matchup Picks - WGC Events

Tipsters: Stanley (72-hole matchups) & Andy (18-hole matchups)

NEC Invitational

72-HOLE PLAYS FINAL RESULT: 3-1-0; +3.00pts

Allenby/Ames WON by 5
Appleby/Ames WON by 5
Clarke/Ames WON by 4
Micheel/Hamilton LOST by 8

Good profit on the matchups by opposing Ames to round off a very pleasing event!

18-hole plays (1pt): (-0.25 pts)

Shaun Micheel to beat Paul McGinley 2.75 Sportingodds WON +1.75 pts
Jonathan Kaye to beat Shigeki Maruyama 2.62
Sportingodds LOST -1.00 pts
Chris Riley to beat Sergio Garcia 2.50
Corals LOST -1.00 pts
All based on price, these three players are priced way too high in their 2-balls and are all a lot shorter at other firms. Sp Odds and Coral have went out on a limb with these quotes to an extent that they are excellent value.

72-hole plays (1.5pts):

Robert Allenby to beat Stephen Ames -107 @ Pinnacle
Ames did finish in the top-10 last week, but he had lost his form with three missed cuts beforehand and has never played on this course or in a WGC event before. One to oppose at this level and with a player who has a good record around Firestone and has only finished behind Ames once in their last six common events.
(also available at Five Dimes)

Stuart Appleby to beat Stephen Ames -109 @ Expekt
Appleby is another with plenty of course form and is playing well enough to beat Ames this week.

Darren Clarke to beat Stephen Ames -105 @ Pinnacle
The defending champion certainly does have good course form and has shown in the British Open and last week's PGA Championship that he is close to being a player who could successfully defend this title.
(also available at Five Dimes)

Shaun Micheel to beat Todd Hamilton +102 @ Pinnacle
Will take these odds on a player who has course experience over one who has none and also holds a 7-5-0 h2h lead in 2004.
