Tipster: Shaker

*** Please note, trading plays were posted in January only to highlight the benefits of introducing Betfair into your golf betting. By backing players at standout early prices and then laying back at the lower odds on Betfair, you can have extremely large odds on a player to win an event. This is a simple process that, once learned, can be applied to any golf betting market.

There are many other advantages to using Betfair and Shaker will now be introducing these instead of concentrating on trading alone. His Betfair plays will be found on this page. Trading advice will continue to be given on this page only during February and these will not be 'official' plays, so specific staking and lay-price advice will not be given. However, these bets should be virtually risk-free given the price that you will be able to lay on Betfair.

Accenture Match Play Championship

Outright play:

Kenny Perry 2 pts at 65 on Betfair

Hundreds available on this price at present, will stay with Betfair instead of 2 pts higher at the bookmakers to help with the liability and commission if we get to lay off at a later stage. This is a big price for Perry these days, unfamiliar format or not. I can see his long straight driving serving him well here in the wet conditions and his ability to hit plenty of greens in regulation should mean any opponent has to play really well to take any number of holes from him. He has a soft-looking first round match against Jeff Sluman, who is less than 100% fit having pulled out of the Nissan last week with back problems, and the likely opponents in the following rounds look less than intimidating, whether the fancied players get through or not.

Summary:

Just one more win would've got us well within laying range for some profit. 1 up after nine, it was all downhill from then on.
Total points staked: 2 ... Total points laid: 0 ... Profit = -2 pts.

Trades Bet:

Stuart Appleby at 50/1 @ Coral

Think this price is too big and a lay of at least 46 should be attainable.
Update: Plenty of bets in the low 40s have been matched so anyone with the 50/1 would now be sitting on some juicy enhanced odds if doing the 6 pt bet/5 pt lay strategy.
