Live Scoring

LIV Golf Greenbrier

On vacation at the moment, so not enough free time to provide a full preview. Here are a few thoughts and tips.

All the hype this week is the return to The Old White TPC where Bryson DeChambeau shot 61-58 over the weekend last year. There was lift, clean and place in operation on the Sunday and it was raining so the course was wet and the greens receptive, but it was still a special round. This is a course on which the players will hit a lot of wedge shots, particularly if they drive it straight. This was the third sub-60 in a Tour event here, so expect low scoring again this week. Once again, it will be a putting contest, which means the odds on the favourites tend not to be warranted. When DeChambeau won last year, he was only the second winner in ten Tour events here to be priced less than 50/1 (the other was fellow LIV golfer, Joaquin Niemann)

Tips  1-2; +5.00pts

Marc Leishman 50/1 (Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook 1/5 1-2-3-4-5-6)  4th
Two top-5 finishes in last seven starts; withdrew from last event with appendicitis, but declared himself 100% fully fit at his charity event on Monday. Withdrawal accounts for odds as they haven’t been this high since Doral.

Abraham Ancer 40/1 (Skybet 1/5 1-2-3-4-5)  13th
Won the Hong Kong event in March and three top-10 finishes since. Shot 64-66 over the weekend last year. Highest odds to win in over twelve months so another value play on an course that tends not to separate the players.

Dustin Johnson 33/1 (Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook 1/5 1-2-3-4-5-6)  33rd
Won the Las Vegas event earlier this year. Similar to last season when he was regularly in the 12-14/1 odds range – form and attitude clearly not as focussed as in LIV Golf’s inaugural season, but can produce tournament-winning form when few indicators of it exist beforehand.
