Back Scott Verplank 1pt @120 Too big a price for a player as consistent as Verplank. He doesn't win as much as a player with his talent should, but the same could have been said of Stewart Cink, who went wire to wire in this very event last year. Back Tom Lehman 0.4pts @290 at Betfair There will probably come a time when I have to admit that Lehman will never win again on this tour. But that time hasn't arrived yet and this is a very big price for a player who has a decent enough record on this course and might just yet have a win left in him!
and finally.. Given Stanley's record of tipping Jim Furyk I think it's about 10's on that if he weren't on holiday he'd make this play, so I'll do it for him: Back Jim Furyk 1.5pts e/w @33/1 at Ladbrokes His form outside the majors has been superb, contending week in week out. Success at the Western Open means he is finally back as a winner, which must be a relief after his injury problems and a big boost to his confidence. he also has a fantastic record on this course: his 22nd place last season is is worst finish here in 6 starts and can probably be put down to his general dip in form due to the injury. |
