What a sorry event to the Southern Africa Tour season! In a field of just 73 players, we had the bottom of the leaderboard packed pretty well! Don't yet know the reason for Archer's disqualification, but he had reached a top-5 position until he played the last five holes, which included two easy par-5s in two-over-par. He finished three shots out of a payout position, before he appears to have been disqualified.

Kingston has certainly been clocking up the air miles with two starts in South Africa this follow, each followed by an event in Asia. But it does not appear to have affected his form, particularly in his native country where he shot 61 in the 3rd round of the Nashua Masters en route to finishing 4th and he also finished 4th in his his other South African event this year, the South African Open. Add in a 3rd round 62 when he finished 2nd in Hong Kong in December and he is certainly at the top of his game. Already an eight-time winner on this Tour and five-time winner on the Asian PGA Tour, he can certainly win again in this company.

And so can Van Der Walt. On a major medical extension on the PGA Tour, he is honing his game in his home country and with some early success, particularly in the co-sanctioned South African Open where he was one of the leaders heading into the final round. He is not at his best at the moment, but if so, he would be the best player on view. With the event being played on a new course, his lack of playing time on this Tour will not be a handicap this week and if he can improve his game, he looks a very strong challenger as well.

Don't really expect Archer to win, though he did win the Rolex Trophy on the Challenge Tour last year on his way to earning a full European Tour Card by finishing 8th on the Challenge Tour Rankings. This year he has finished in the top-25 in the co-sanctioned South African Open, finished 5th in the Dimension Data Pro-Am and played well in New Zealand two weeks ago to be well-placed after two rounds. On that basis alone, 125/1 seems rather generous in this field and one that contains only 73 players.
