Matchup Picks - Southern Africa Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Matchups

Tour Championship

FINAL RESULT: 0-3-0; -4.62pts

Kingston/Fichardt LOST by 15
Van Der Walt/Sterne LOST by 15
Dunlap/McGuigan LOST by 6

Some rather emphatic losses. Definitely an event to forget!

Further matchup play (1pt):

Scott Dunlap to beat Doug McGuigan -120 @ Five Dimes
Easy to oppose McGuigan who did finish 4th last week, but had previously missed four of his last five cuts and failed to secure a top-10 finish since 2003. This should be straightforward for a player who won on the Nationwide Tour last year and has a 14-2-1 h2h career lead in Southern Africa Tour events.

Matchup plays (1pt unless stated):

James Kingston to beat Darren Fichardt -114 @ Expekt [2pts]
A repeat of the 2003 Qatar Masters playoff, which Fichardt won. However, in terms of common events this year, Kingston has finished ahead of his compatriot on both occasions and in four of five common events in South Africa over the past year. Backing the outright selection again and hoping for an absence of travel fatigue!

Tjaart Van Der Walt to beat Richard Sterne -114 @ Expekt
These two have played in the same events on five occasions in South Africa in recent months and Van Der Walt has finished higher up the leaderboard on four of those occasions. The only time that he didn't was in the Nashua Masters which Sterne won. But given that Sterne's next-best finish this year has been 29th, it looks a decent bet to side with the more consistent player.
