FINAL RESULT: 0-2; -4.00pts

Purtzer 15th
McNulty 23rd

Never a chance of any return from these two plays.

Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)

Tom Purtzer to win 28/1 e.w. @ SkyBet, Stan James, Victor Chandler and Coral
Can't find much value in this week's odds with the limited field, but Purtzer and McNulty do stand out at the available odds. Purtzer was backed last week and was in 2nd place at the start of back nine on Sunday, but fell back. Nevertheless, he continued his surprising consistency that was remarked upon last week. In his last ten starts, he has finished outside the top-20 just once and that was just 23rd. It is a similar story in California with top-20 finishes in 13 of his last 15 starts, including two wins in this State. He has finished 7th twice in three attempts on this course and with the forecast good, he should be better placed to fare well this week than last year. And he is certainly playing enough to fare well again.

Mark McNulty to win 33/1 e.w. @ Sportingbet, Sporting Odds, Ladbrokes and BetFred
Despite winning events in both his first two seasons on this Tour, McNulty had long been discounted this year after some competing below his best for quite some time. But there is clear evidence that his game is returning. He looked like a possible winner on the front nine on Sunday last week before finishing 7th and that is his best finish since the Regions Charity Classic which he really should have won back in May. And there is his course form to consider. He won this event in 2004 and despite being 21st of 30 after two rounds, he shot 65-68 over the weekend to finish 4th. That is worth considering whatever his current form.
