Royal Caribbean Golf Classic

Outright plays (2 units):

Tom Purtzer to win 18/1 e.w. @ Paddy Power
No hesitation in backing Purtzer at this price and in a field missing a lot of the top players. He showed very good form in the opening event of the season two weeks ago to shoot 67-67-66 and finish 5th and and has finished 7th and 6th in the last two years on this course. With good early season form in his two years on the Champions Tour, he is a strong contender for the title this week.

Larry Nelson to win 20/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Nelson has won this title in the past (2001) and while he was not as impressive in finishing 19th two weeks ago, he is a class player in a field like this and has shown that he tends to play well repeatedly on certain courses.

Dana Quigley to win 25/1 e.w. @ William Hill
Quigley did play well two weeks ago and very nearly successfully defended his title - he finished a very close 2nd to Zoeller. He can also count good form on this course with four top-10 finishes in six years and he is another who tends to play very well at the start of the season as there is no substitute for hunger!

Final update: 1-2; +1.25 units

Purtzer wd
Nelson 13th
Quigley 2nd

So close! Quigley shot the joint low score of the day to share the lead for about an hour, but Fleisher only had to par in and then birdie the easy par-five last hole, which he did. Denied at the death for the second time in two events this year. Nelson finished two shots out of the places, while Purtzer had been up the leaders after the 1st round, but withdrew after 5 holes of the second round with a pulled stomach muscle.
