I am quite happy to oppose Love this week. Last season he showed great inconsistency and although his form
picked up after the Ryder Cup qualification process was over, his start to this season and his previous course
form hardly inspires confidence.
Instead we'll side with Choi (solid current form, promising course form and of equatable ability) and Verplank
(superb course form and yet again starts a season in very decent form).
Rose has been saying all the right words of late but he only managed to win one h2h last season against Toms
and in an event where Toms has a very good record (hasn't finished outside the top 20 in his last five starts here)
I will be surprised if Rose finishes ahead of him this time.
Sabbatini to beat Matteson is basically a play against Matteson. Despite a very promising start to the season with
finishes of 11-28-23 he is currently sitting 104th for Birdie Average, 133rd on putting average and although his
scrambling stats look encouraging he was 97th on the tour last season. I can't see this course set-up favouring his
game and Sabbatini is a decent choice with good form this season and previously at this event.
