The Players Championship

All plays 1.5pts unless stated:

Back Tom Lehman to beat Aaron Baddeley 3pts @+105 at William Hill, Easybets
I managed to go a whole week without opposing Baddeley, but I can't resist it here. As has been pointed out elsewhere, this is a course for good ball strikers not good putters. Lehman falls firmly in the first category, while Badds is in the second. Lehman has the edge by far in course form with Baddeley's only apearance being a bad missed cut last year. Lehman also dominates the head to head stats this season, last season, in fact more or less whatever time period you look at. To get odds-against is the icing on the cake.

Back Darren Clarke to beat Sergio Garcia @-110 at SkyBet
Back Darren Clarke to beat Jim Furyk @+100 at SIA
Clarke has shown he can play here with a 6th place finish 2 years ago, and but for one abberation last week - taking a 9 on the par 5 6th - he would have been in clear 4th place, so his game is in good shape. It has to be said that Garcia and Furyk have had good performances here in the past too, but this simply comes down to Clarke being a better player right now than either of them. Furyk still hasn't shown enough for me to suggest he has returned to his 'pre-surgery' level and Garcia still flatters to deceive too often in the big events.

Back Stewart Cink to beat Davis Love @-114 at Expekt
Love is a previous winner here, but has really lost his form badly since those days. Cink on the other hand continues to improve as a player and perhaps is getting more used to this course with improving finishes in the past two years.

Back Adam Scott to beat Chad Campbell @-125 at William Hill, Easybets
Back Charles Howell to beat Mike Weir @-110 at BlueSq
Scott is simply in a different class of player to Campbell, who seems incapable of stringing 4 good rounds together right now. Weir is still very much out of sorts, while Charles Howell has had a resurgence in form this season after a poor 2004.
