Matchup Picks - LPGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Matchups

Corning Classic

FINAL RESULT: 2-1; +4.05pts

Ellis/Kuehne WON by 14
Lindley/Goetze-Ackerman WON by 2
Kang/Hjorth LOST by 1

Another profit on the matchups on this Tour and a very close loss on wrong side of the cut line for the only loser. But really shouldn't have been close on these three strongly-fancied plays.

Matchup plays (3pts unless stated):

Michelle Ellis to beat Kelli Kuehne +100 @ Five Dimes
It must seem a very long time since Kuehne won this title in 1999 and finished 2nd the following year as she has missed the cut in each of her last four starts and has a best score of 74 in her last 10 rounds. Ellis finished 12th in last event two weeks ago and should be the favourite with Kuehne's game in trouble.

Leta Lindley to beat Vicki Goetze-Ackerman -127 @ Five Dimes [4.5pts]
Similar story here. Goetze-Ackerman did finish 2nd last year, but her big achievement last week was to end a run of five straight missed cuts. She also ended another run: she finished five shots ahead of Lindley and that was the first time since October 2003 that she has finished ahead of Lindley. It was a very surprising win last week and it will be just as surprising if she does it again.

Soo-Yun Kang to beat Maria Hjorth -115 @ Five Dimes
Finishes of 8th last week and 6th on this course in 2003 bode well for a good week from Kang, but the clincher is that she has finished ahead of Hjorth in 18 of their last 21 common events. On that basis, they can hardly be evenly-priced in the odds.
