LPGA Tournament of Champions

FINAL RESULT: 1-1; -0.45pts

Matthew/Gustafson LOST by 9
Neumann/Perrot WON by 13

Disappointing split as Matthew held a seven-shot lead over Gustafson during the 2nd round, but it was all downhill from there!

Matchup plays (1.5pts)

Catriona Matthew to beat Sophie Gustafson -130 @ Centrebet
Gustafson finished ahead of Matthew in their last common event in South Korea two weeks ago, but she had not finished ahead of the Scot any previous event since July. And in terms of their performances in North American strokeplay events, the imbalance is even clearer. In their 18 such events this year, Matthew has finished ahead of Gustafson 16 times, the last time being in May. So having also finished ahead of her three times out of four on this course, Matthew should be a much clearer favourite this week.

Liselotte Neumann to beat Nicole Perrot -114 @ Expekt
Perrot makes her debut in this event following her shock victory in the Longs Drugs Challenge last month - her last top-10 finish in a strokeplay event had been in April at the Takefuji Classic. Her win did mean that she finished ahead of Neumann who was 3rd last week, but it was the first time that she had finished ahead of her since the Michelob Ultra Open over five months beforehand. That win was the result of a career week and should not be repeated this week on a course on which she is making her debut. That makes Neumann, who finished in the top-10 last year, a strong favourite to resume her dominance in this matchup.
