Electrolux USA Championship

For the first time in six weeks, Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb go head-to-head. Webb may have defended her Nichirei Cup title last week, but Sorenstam has come to dominate Ladies golf in the meantime. It is only May and hopefully player fatigue will not deprive us of an enthralling battle ahead.

There are, of course, 142 other players in the field and with a high quality field and on a course that has wide-open fairways, it is not a foregone conclusion that the winner will be either Webb or Sorenstam. And while those two players dominate the markets, there are some good prices to be found for the other players. In this respect, the three outright plays are rather Kelly Robbins, Michele Redman and Michelle McGann.

Robbins returned from a five-week break to compete at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship last week and closed with a 66 to jump to 6th overall. She has not won on Tour for some time, but if she can carry that form forward then another top-10 should be easily attainable.

Redman can boast some excellent form of late with her last five finishes being in the top-20 and two of them in the top-4. To add to this impressive form of late, she has a 3rd place finish in the one staging of this event at the Ironhorse Course at the Legends Club of Tennessee, which was last year. It all points to another strong finish from Redman and hopefully at least another place finish.

Finally, McGann completes a trio of players who don't win enough, but do challenge virtually every week. McGann has finished in the top-20 in six of her last eight events and she can also boast, like Redman, a 3rd place finish on this course last year. It was all the more notable though in that only McGann and Inkster recorded every round under par last year. A repeat performance would be very profitable!

Outright plays:

Kelly Robbins to win 33/1 e.w. @ Surrey

Michele Redman to win 29/1 e.w. @ Surrey

Michelle McGann to win 50/1 e.w. @ William Hill

Final update: 0-3 and -3.00 units

Quiet, rain-interrupted event. Two of the three selections challenged for a place finish, but both fell three shots short. Robbins and Redman finished in 13th place, though that was an improvement on McGann who missed the cut. Hope for more action next week.
