Spread Betting News (Sporting Index)

Bets 2, Losses 2. Loss 27.3 Pts. Poor run goes into a 4th week over all tours.

Bet 1 - Buy Markus Brier FP at 42 with
IG Sport for 0.6 Pts M/U 2, Loss 24 Pts
A winner recently in Asia, Brier followed up with an excellent 5th in his next event in the region. However, his 2006 form on this tour was average and it was only a win in a sub standard event in his native Austria and a couple of late Top 10's in Germany and Holland that stopped his average finish for the year being embarrassing. It was still over 4pts higher than his buy quote today and he plays a course that is more suited to big hitters of which he is not. In his 2006 bow here he missed the cut with 72 and 71 and although those scores would qualify most weeks the cut last year was 140.

Bet 2 - Sell Steve Jones over Barry Lane 18H MB at 2 with Sporting Index for 0.3 Pts M/U 13, Loss 3.3 Pts
An incoming PGA player 2-5 favourite over a seasoned European tour pro. Nothing new there, apart from the fact this is Steve Jones, the Steve Jones who in 5 starts on the PGA tour this year has a 76th place at the sub standard event in Mexico played the same week as the Matchplay, as the only time he made the weekend. This is a player who has played on European soil eight times in ten years with a 9th in the Scottish Open in 1997 his only top 20. Admittedly, he is playing Lane who is not the player of old and has only made two cuts of eight this year but he was 24th on this course 3 years ago and that was the worst result in his last 3 Italian starts. This isn't bet of the season by any means but a fairer price would be 1.5 choice with so many question marks over both players.
