Spread Picks - European Tour

Tipsters: Andy & Shaker

Andy is on holiday until the Open Championship

Scottish Open

From Shaker:

Buy Paul Casey/Darren Clarke 72H MB at 0.75 with Cantor Sport for 0.5 pts
Casey was close to being an outright selection for me, but eventually I just left him out, deciding instead to try and take advantage of his consistency with a spread bet. And here it is, a tournament matchup on very acceptable terms when you consider the struggles Clarke is going through. He has shown his desperation by giving the long putter a go but the situation remains that he is in turmoil at the moment. Even though Casey hasn't been at his best recently, he still churns out pretty high finishes in Europe as latest results of 2nd, 10th & 14th show, and this suggests that a finish outside the top ten this week would be a surprise and disappointment for him. That is a far cry from the feeling that it would be a surprise should Clarke finish inside the top ten and the potential for a poor finish is undoubtedly far greater with Clarke. And even if, somehow, he finds some form on the greens he could easily still fall short of Casey's performance.

MU 2, Profit = 0.62 pts
Three bogeys in the last five holes by Casey was an annoyance, but I suppose after round one any profit would've been acceptable. A disappointment that opposing a 20/1 3rd favourite who misses the cut reaps no reward but luckily didn't waste any points outright.
