Not much enthusiasm for this event, but
will hazard a guess on a 2004 winner who is surely overpriced at
anything over the top bookies quote of 66/1 in this field. When he won
the Open de France less than 4 months ago, he was securing his 7th
top-15 in 11 events, and even though he hasn't added to that tally
since, he still lies 16th on the Order Of Merit with only 6 of his
opponents this week ahead of him. Despite the no-top-15s-since
statement, he has shown bits of form in the last two months, including a
super 17th in the USPGA and 27th & 17th from his two September outings
in decent fields. He has enough Spanish form to not discourage a wager,
with 2nd, 4th, 10th & 11th places to show for 8 events spanning the past
4 seasons, and the 10th place mentioned there accompanies a 37th place
in making up his last two outings on this course.
