This is undoubtedly one of the best players
yet to win on tour - 9 finishes of
tied-5th or better in the last 14 months is a record few can top but it
does at the same time raise doubts about his resolution in a finish. And
with some top names in opposition, it would be some feat were he to
actually break his duck this week,
but then many of those high finishes were in tournaments won by the
likes of Els, Goosen, Harrington, Jimenez & Westwood so it's not as if
he's inexperienced at challenging Europe's best on Sunday's back nine.
He has some very good finishes on links courses to his name - 3rd here
last year and tied-2nd at the Irish Open in July - and looks in form
too, with finishes of T22, T3 & T29 in his last three events.
