British Masters

Back Darren Clarke to win 5 pts @ 11.5 at Betfair

Well, I'm sorry for the short price but I truly believe this is a good price worth taking. He has a phenomenal record at this course and I think the rest since his 11th at the Heritage, and subsequent return to these shores, are nothing but big positives. I'd be sure that the 'new' Darren Clarke has been working hard on his game and I think he should be clear favourite and probably single figures. Looks like soft ground in the Midlands this week and I find it hard not to envisage Clarke having some target practice with the pins this week. I would go no lower than 11.5, at least not with Stan James still going 11/1.

Back Gregory Havret to win 1 pt @ 75 at Betfair
He did little wrong last week and I can see scores being quite low again this week if the greens are indeed soft and slow. Easy scoring courses seem to suit him and he has some form here in the past; 10th in 2002 was easily his best finish of the whole season, and his 30th last year was only bettered at four other courses. Now he is firmly back in form I can see another big week coming up, even to the extent that I'm happy to take shorter odds in a stronger field. Won't go any lower than 75 as he is 80/1 at Totalbet.

Summary:
Havret never reached the heights of last week and Clarke found his form way too late. Loss 6 pts.
