Tom Watson                  2pts win @ 10/1 Ladbrokes
Hardly original but it's hard to ignore Watsons credentials this week. He won the Open here in 1982, 4th in 1989 and 10th in 1997. He has won the Senior version on three occasions from 6 starts and has won on the Champions tour this season with two further top-ten finishes. If he gets off to a solid start then he will be very hard to beat here this week. 5th

Eduardo Romero          1pts e/w @ 16/1 BetDirect, Stan James & Ladbrokes
Romero is in good form and has should be happy on the Troon course. There are no worries regarding his current form, he was victorious last time on the Champions Tour and has numerous good finishes this season. In 1989 he finished 8th in the Open and 7th here in 1997. And his record in the event is second to none with finishes of 2-9-2-4 highlighting his ability to play on links courses. 3rd

Kiyoshi Murota              0.25pts e/w @ 125/1 William Hill
It's been almost 5 years since Murota's last victory when he comfortably held off then current Open champion Ben Curtis to win the Taiheyo Masters in 2003. But he has had numerous place finishes in recent years on the competitive Japan Tour. On his two previous starts in this event he has finished 14th and 15th. But both times he has been let down by a disappointing third round and last year's round of 80 cost him a place finish at the very least. 21st
