Matchup Picks - Asian PGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Volvo China Open

FINAL RESULT: 1-3-0; -1.50pts

Emerson/Que LOST by 3
Kingston/Yates LOST by 4
Park/Yates LOST by 2
Liang/Slattery WON by 6

Liang over Slattery was the only winner across matchups and outrights in this event. Just as well it was a double-play!

Matchup plays (1pt unless stated):

Gary Emerson to beat Angelo Que -120 @ Five Dimes
Although Emerson won the last European Tour co-sanctioned event, the Russian Open, in August, this is mainly a play against Que who was shock winner in Vietnam three weeks ago. He has had only one other finish inside the top-60 on the Asian PGA Tour this year and expected to revert back to type this week.

James Kingston to beat Simon Yates -110 @ SkyBet
After a very promising season on the Asian PGA Tour, Yates' form has dipped considerably recently. He returned to Scotland for the Dunhill Links Championship in October but only finished 69th and missed the cut in his only Asian PGA Tour event in the last eight weeks. With Kingston having finished ahead of him in each of their last four common events and having finished 3rd the last time that he played at Shanghai Silport, he warrants favouritism in this match.

David Park to beat Simon Yates -120 @ Five Dimes
No course form, but having made his last five cuts on the European Tour, including two top-15 finishes, and having missed the cut once in his seven starts in Asia, Park should be a top-20 player this week. That should be enough to beat Yates in his current form.

Wen-Chong Liang to beat Lee Slattery -105 @ Five Dimes [2pts]
Home field advantage should easily overcome the form that Slattery showed en route to finishing 1st in this year's Challenge Tour Rankings. He has never played in this region and so should struggle to beat a home player who has finished 3rd and 4th in his last two starts.
