Matchup Picks - Australasian Tour

New Zealand Open

FINAL RESULT: 1-2-0; -1.97pts

Green/Campbell WON by 13
O'Hern/Parry LOST by 5
Senior/Fraser LOST by 2

Opposing Campbell was the only thing that went to plan in this event and that was hardly original. Senior did find some form on the last day, but left himself far too much to do to catch Fraser. Just as well there were only a few plays on this event!

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Richard Green to beat Michael Campbell -152 @ Pinnacle [3pts]
Short odds, but very easy to oppose Cambo. While Green has finished in the top-30 in his last nine events, Campbell has done so only once in his last eleven in a spell dating back six months. So I fully expect Green to finish ahead of Campbell for the tenth successive time.

Nick O'Hern to beat Craig Parry -105 @ Pinnacle
Backing this matchup again even though it was a tie last week with Parry winning in extra time. Just feel that in addition to O'Hern's health improving and taking comfort from the way he played after an injury layoff, Parry will be the one to suffer a reaction after the way in which he won last week's playoff. Twice he has played the week after winning in the last five years (one of those times was also after a playoff) and twice he has finished outside the top-30. Maybe not so drastic this week, but O'Hern should be the one with greater determination this week.

Peter Senior to beat Marcus Fraser -113 @ Pinnacle [3pts]
No doubt that Fraser is a player who should do well on the European Tour and in New Zealand as he was the 2002 New Zealand Open Amateur Champion, but he has missed three of his last four cuts and is generally not playing as well as Senior who has finished ahead of him in five of their last six common events. Add in Senior's top-10 finishes in the big Australian events in December and his top-5 finishes in the two New Zealand events last year and he may surprise this week.
