Matchup Picks - Australasian Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Matchups

Heineken Classic

FINAL RESULT: 3-0-1; +10.55pts

Appleby/Scott WON by 5
O'Hern/Campbell WON by 11
O'Hern/Parry TIED (Dead-heat)
Green/Fowler WON by 2

A good result to round out a great event. Even the tie between the players in the playoff was decided on 72-holes, not including the playoff as some books would do. Very nice!

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Stuart Appleby to beat Adam Scott -103 @ Pinnacle [3pts]
Scott underperformed badly in Australia at the end of last year as he faced a great deal of public criticism for skipping his home Open in November and this will be his first event at home in 2005. He will have that pressure to deal with, plus the fact that he has finished ahead of Appleby only once in their last ten common events.
(also available at Olympic, Sportingbet and Sporting Odds)

Nick O'Hern to beat Michael Campbell -138 @ Ladbrokes [4.5pts]
Returning from an operation or not, O'Hern has totally dominated this matchup, winning it in their last ten meetings. Cambo's course form won't be able to save him with his current lack of confidence.

Nick O'Hern to beat Craig Parry +110 @ Expekt
O'Hern has lost this matchup only once since the start of 2004 (seven common events), so I'll gladly take these odds despite O'Hern's injury concerns.

Richard Green to beat Peter Fowler -110 @ Stan James [3pts]
Another matchup totally dominated by one player. Since the Jacob's Creek Open in February 2004, Green has finished ahead of Fowler in 18 of their 21 common events. Fowler's course form is impressive, but he is coming off a missed cut in the lowly Victorian Open and looks in no form to reverse this losing record against Green.
